Yesterday I spend my whole day in the amazing old Philips factory in Eindhoven. Now this beautiful industrial factory is the workspace, restaurant, showroom, art gallery and shop from the talented Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek. I was invited to see the winners of the competition paint their cupboards, that where already partly pre painted in the designs of the winners with primer by the Histor paint specialists. The whole place was decorated with the unpainted and painted Piet Hein Eek cupboards made by stylists, bloggers and press.
here you see my cupboard (second under from the left) exposed in the event space
Piet Hein Eek opened the event together with marketing director Mylène Heystek of Histor and the chief editor of 101 woonideeën Annet Niterink in the event space. Followed by a personal tour by Piet Hein Eek. "If you want to function properly, you must ensure that you are in a fine setting. That's what I've made from the beginning" says Piet Hein Eek. The cupboards, specially designed for this event by Piet Hein Eek, are designed to be painted and easy to manufacture. There are now 200 cupboards made and maybe they will be sold to customers in the future.
After the press meeting, presentation on trend colors in 2014 by Histor and a tasty lunch, all very well organized, we went to see the creative winners who where painting their cupboards as you can see. You could really see the 101 characters of them in their cupboards and it was so great to meet and see them work on it with help of the Histor specialists. I can imagine that it's very hard to concentrate on your painting process, when everybody is looking, taking photos and asking questions.
Of course I did some shopping and saw almost every corner of this beautiful place. I met a lot of enthusiastic bloggers & instagrammers who recognized me from my photo. It was so great to meet them. I had a good time and want to thank Histor and Piet Hein Eek for the warm welcome! Last thing to mention: in two weeks all created cupboards will be visible with photo on the website www.101karakters.nl with an explanation of the painting process.
