Old Masters New Heroes | VTwonen & design fair 2015

In the Netherlands the new interior season kicked of nicely for the 23rd time in Amsterdam with the VTWONEN & Design beurs from September 29 to October 5; formally called 'de Woonbeurs'.

This year's theme was 'Old Masters New Heroes',  a combination of old and new design that I personally like very much. In the VTWONEN house the theme was well implemented through the use of dark colors, as if you find yourself in a painting by 17th century Dutch painters such as Rembrandt or Vermeer.

Along with my eldest daughter Mirte, I admired everything. Although it was quite exhausting sometimes for a girl of 10 years old; especially if you have a mom who wants to make lots of pictures. Also, it seems like it's getting more crowded at the design fair every year, so it's very hard to take good pictures.

A must see when you visit this fair are the fully styled houses (down to the smallest detail), like the VTWONEN house and the Ariadne at Home house. Today I take you with me in the garden and outdoor kitchen of the VTWONEN home.

Outside living and grow your own (organic) fruit and vegetables is becoming increasingly important in our life. How good it would be to have this kitchen in your garden? I love the Country feeling and the use of vintage items. What do you think about it?

A special mention for the pavilion of Eigen Huis & Interieur and More Than Classic. i29 interior architects created a spacial experience that surprises and amazes. The contrasted colored rooms must be discovered. The mirrored walls hide worlds that link to live. A pure experience. See more about the pavilion here.

Is the Amsterdam interior fair innovative? No I do not think so. Personally, I would love to see some more innovative designers and brands. Is it a nice trip to get home inspiration? Absolutely!

Next Saturday October 17th, the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven is back. I've booked the most wonderful hotel in the center of Eindhoven on Saturday, so I have 2 days to visit the DDW 2015.  More info about this exciting event follows soon.
